Absolutely, you can catch Gengar in Pokemon Violet! But remember, Gengar doesn't just wander about in the wild waiting for you. First, you gotta catch a Gastly or a Haunter and then evolve it. Gastly evolves into Haunter, and then you evolve Haunter into Gengar by trading it. Make sure you've got a friend or someone to trade with so you can get that spooky Gengar on your team!

Honestly, trading to evolve Pokémon feels outdated. I wish Gengar just spawned wild. But yeah, you gotta trade Haunter to get Gengar.

Caught mine through a trade! My best advice: find a trading partner who also wants a Gengar. Evolve Haunter by trading and boom, Gengar is yours. Worked perfectly for me!
