Actually, you can't rename Pokémon you got from trades, so make sure it's your own Pokémon you're trying to rename. Also, make sure the nickname is fitting for your Pokémon pal!

Renaming a Pokémon in Pokémon Violet is super easy! Just head over to any Pokémon Center and find the character named the 'Nickname Rater' or a similar NPC. They'll let you rename your Pokémon. Just remember, you can only rename Pokémon you've caught yourself, not those you've received through trades!
