In CS:GO, the competitive mode features a total of 18 ranks, starting from Silver I (the lowest) all the way up to Global Elite (the highest). Players can queue together if they're within 5 ranks of each other. So, if you're Silver IV, you can team up with players as high as Master Guardian I.

Big misconception here, folks - it's not just about the rank distance. Your overall play time and performance also play a huge role in who you can queue with. Seen it firsthand when my bud, who's the same rank but plays like a pro, couldn't queue with us noobs.
