U can't really 'cancel' a trade once it's fully underway, FYI. If u've hit the point of no return (aka the trade is done), then that Pokémon's on a one-way trip to its new home. So make sure you're cool with saying bye before you confirm the trade!

Canceling a surprise trade in Pokémon Violet is pretty straightforward but kinda feels like a secret mission. So, here's the trick: if you've tossed a Pokémon into the surprise trade whirlpool and suddenly have second thoughts, just hit the 'X' button to bring up the main menu, then navigate to the 'Y-Comm' or your internet connection settings. Disconnecting your game from the internet should abort the trade mission before it finds a landing spot in someone else's game. Just remember, timing is everything; if the trade has already gone through, that Pokémon has officially left the building.
