If you ask me, just don't. Getting stung is no fun, and hunting for wasp nests sounds like a recipe for trouble. Let those bees bee!

From experience, keep an eye out for trees that you haven't shaken yet. Wasp nests are lurking in random trees each day. And don't forget, once you shake a tree and a nest falls out, you can catch the wasps with your net if you're quick enough, or prepare to dash to safety. Happy hunting!
