Getting rid of the pesky black bars in CS:GO on your laptop is all about tweaking your graphics settings. First, you'll want to open up your graphics card control panel (NVIDIA Control Panel or AMD Radeon Settings, depending on your GPU). Look for the display or graphics options, and find the aspect ratio settings. Change it from whatever it's currently set to (probably 'Aspect Ratio') to 'Full-Screen'. Restart CS:GO to see the change. If that doesn't work, you might need to check the in-game settings and set the aspect ratio to 'Widescreen 16:9' or directly adjust the resolution that fits your screen.

I struggled with this for ages until I realized that CS:GO was respecting the settings of my Intel Graphics Control Panel over the game's settings. If the other fixes don't work, try looking into your integrated graphics settings if you're on a laptop. I switched the scaling option to 'Scale Full Screen' and the black bars vanished like magic. Turns out, the game wasn't the problem at all!
