Honestly, just use Steam's built-in FPS counter. Go to Steam settings, then 'In-Game' and check the 'In-game FPS counter' box. Choose where you want it to appear on your screen. No need to mess with console commands!

Easy peasy! Just open the console in-game (usually the `~` key) and type 'cl_showfps 1'. Hit Enter, and voilà! Your FPS will show up on your screen. If you want to turn it off, just type 'cl_showfps 0'. Remember to enable the console from the game settings first if you haven't!

cl_showfps 1 is outdated, just use the Steam overlay option. Much easier.
