Hot take: Just stick to unaltered cards for tournaments. Why risk a DQ over a fancy look?

From personal experience, altered cards are great for Commander nights with friends. Had my deck's lands altered and everyone loved them! Just be sure to check with your playgroup.

Altered MTG cards can be super cool and personal, but whether they're allowed in official play depends on the event! In casual games, it's usually all good as long as everyone playing agrees. For official tournaments, though, the card has to be recognizable and its thickness can't differ from other cards in the deck. So, minor alterations are often fine, but anything that might give you an unfair advantage or make the card hard to identify? That's a no-go.

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
