Nope, games aren't free on the Steam Deck itself. You're buying a portable PC designed to play your Steam library games, which means you'll have to purchase games on Steam, just like on a regular PC. However, Steam has a bunch of free-to-play games, so technically, you won't be short on free games to enjoy on your Deck!

Actually, a lot of people seem to think that because you're paying for the device, games come free. That's a no-go. You pay for games on Steam Deck just like any other platform. But, the silver lining? Tons of free games are available on Steam!

Lol, imagine if games were actually free on Steam Deck - we'd never see the sunlight again! But seriously, you gotta buy the games or grab the free-to-play ones on Steam.

Well, if games were free, Steam Deck would be the ultimate gaming utopia. Sadly, no. Games cost money, except for the free ones on Steam, which are indeed playable on the Deck.

If you're a Steam player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official Steam gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
