Are other players automatically marked as opponents in MTG?
BivouacingFirm·7 months agoIn Magic The Gathering, 'opponent' is basically a term of art—it refers to any player you're facing in the game, regardless of the number of players. So yeah, anyone you’re playing against is automatically an opponent. In multiplayer games, this could mean multiple opponents, not just one!

Short answer: Yes, anyone you're not teamed up with is considered your opponent. MTG doesn’t do frenemies.
Totally! In MTG, it’s you against the world. Well, not really the world, but anyone sitting across the table is looking to take you down. So buckle up and consider every other player an opponent, whether it's a friendly game or a championship match.
