Yeah, playtest cards from MTG are indeed a curious case! They are not officially trademarked in the same way the final, released MTG cards are. This is because playtest cards are internal tools used during the game's development process and are not intended for public distribution or sale. They're more like behind-the-scenes peeks into the game's making rather than part of the game itself.

Absolutely not. Playtest cards are basically glorified doodles by the game devs. They're meant for testing and internal use only, so there鈥檚 no real need (or point) for them to be trademarked.

Hot take: even if they were trademarked, it wouldn't make much of a difference to us players. Since we're not supposed to have them in the first place, their legal status is kinda moot.

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
