Technically, yes, a Chromebook can run Steam, but it's not as straightforward as on Windows or Mac. You'd have to use Linux (Beta) on your Chromebook, enable it, then install Steam through the Linux terminal. Keep in mind, performance and game compatibility will highly depend on your Chromebook's specs. Not all games will run smoothly, if at all, especially the more demanding ones.

I've actually done this! It's a bit of a process to get Linux and then Steam installed, but I managed to play some less demanding games like Stardew Valley. Just don't expect to run anything too graphics-intensive. It's cool, but your mileage may vary big time depending on your Chromebook.

Short answer? Yes, but it's not worth the hassle. Chromebooks aren't really built for gaming, and even if you get Steam running, your game selection and performance are gonna be super limited.

If you're a Steam player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official Steam gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
