I tried popping in my old PS3 discs, but they wouldn't work. Stick to PS4 discs or digital versions of PS3 games.

Sadly, it's a no-go for PS3 discs on the PS5. Sony kept backward compatibility limited to PS4 games.

No, the PS5 can't play PS3 disc games. You can, however, enjoy some PS3 titles via PlayStation Now streaming service!
