Can you be a raider in Fallout 4?
Actually, yes and no. Vanilla Fallout 4? Nope, you can't officially join a raider gang. But, throw in the Nuka-World DLC, and bam, you're pretty much a raider overboss. It's the closest experience you'll get to living the raider dream.

Not in the traditional sense, no. Fallout 4 doesn't let you join raider gangs the way you join other factions like the Brotherhood of Steel or the Railroad. However, with the Nuka-World DLC, you get as close as possible by leading raider gangs and taking over settlements, so that's something!
Short answer: Only with Nuka-World DLC. Without it, nope.
Gonna throw a curveball here - being a raider ain't about the title, it's about the lifestyle. Just start causing mayhem and living outside the laws of the commonwealth, and voila, you're a raider at heart. But officially? Nuka-World DLC is your ticket.
