Unfortunately, you can't buy PSN games directly as gifts. But you can buy PlayStation Store gift cards and let them choose their own adventure!

I tried giving a PSN game to a friend once. No dice. Bought a gift card instead, and they were thrilled!

Nope, PSN doesn't let you gift games directly. Just grab a PSN gift card and call it a day.
