You can’t go vertical in Words with Friends! Your words need to be horizontal or vertical, not diagonal. Happy word hunting!

Nah, tiles can only be placed horizontally or vertically.

Nope, you can't play tiles upward in Words with Friends. It's strictly left-to-right or top-to-bottom, just like Scrabble!

From personal experience, the only directions you can place words are horizontally across or vertically down. Get creative within those lines!
