From experience, I tried uploading a 4K video, and Instagram compressed it down. Still looked good, though!
You can upload 4K videos, but Instagram will compress them to 1080p, so don't expect true 4K quality.
Instagram won't let you upload 4K. It's all about the 1080p life here.
