Among Us still has the option to type in chat, but they also introduced Quick Chat for faster communication.

Nope. Typing's still in the game, but Quick Chat is now available too. Just toggle between options in settings!

I just played Among Us last night, and typing is definitely still there. You can switch between typing and Quick Chat in the settings!
