Nah, the Pokemon card game didn't come first. The original Pokemon video game for the Game Boy hit the scene in 1996. The Pokemon Trading Card Game shuffled in a bit later, around 1996 in Japan and 1998 internationally. So the video games introduced us to the world of Pokemon before the TCG had us flipping cards.

Video games all the way! The Pokemon TCG was cool and all, but it came after the video games had already charmed the pants off us.

Actually, the TCG was a masterstroke to expand the Pokemon universe post video game launch. It wasn't just an afterthought but a strategic move to build on the massive success of the video games. I remember rushing out to get my deck right after tackling the Elite Four on my Game Boy!

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
