Yup, in Magic The Gathering, +1/+1 counters and -1/-1 counters do indeed cancel each other out. If your creature has both types of counters on it, you remove them in pairs. So, if your critter has three +1/+1 counters and two -1/-1 counters, you'd remove two of each, leaving it with one +1/+1 counter in the end. It's like the game's way of simplifying the battlefield!

Nope, they don't cancel each other out. They totally do! Every +1/+1 counter neatly cancels out a -1/-1 counter. It's clean, it's efficient, and it keeps the game from getting bogged down in too much math. So if you're playing a game and this situation pops up, just remember: the battlefield's about to get a bit tidier!

Actually, +1/+1 and -1/-1 counters annihilating each other is super important in some strategies. Played a match where this mechanic completely flipped the game. Had a creature that was about to get overwhelmed by -1/-1 counters, but a timely +1/+1 buff cleared the counters and turned the tide. So yeah, they definitely cancel out.

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
