Nope, you don't HAVE to use official double-faced proxies for your MTG games. Most folks just use them for convenience during play, especially in casual games. If you're playing at home or with friends, any clear marker or placeholder that helps you remember what's on the other side of a double-faced card works. Of course, in official tournaments, check with your judges or organizers since they might have specific rules.

Short answer: No. But, respect the vibe of where you're playing. Casual games? Almost anything goes. Competitive events? Stick to the official stuff or at least check with event organizers.

Actually, using the official proxies makes life easier and avoids any confusion during games. Learned this the hard way during a casual tournament. Save yourself the headache and stick with the official ones if you can.

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
