Yup, changing the SSD on your Steam Deck can void the warranty. Valve designed the Steam Deck with customization in mind, but they've warned that internal modifications like swapping the SSD could void the warranty. It’s best to enjoy the massive game library and all the cool features without tinkering too much on the inside.

Actually, no! Valve's been pretty cool about modding the Steam Deck. They've made it clear that users can open the device and replace parts without automatically voiding the warranty. However, any damage caused by these modifications will not be covered. So, if you know what you're doing and take care, go for it.

Short answer: It's a gamble. Valve's stance is DIY at your own risk.

If you're a Steam player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official Steam gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
