Nope, discarding a card in MTG isn't the same as it dying. 'Dying' refers to a creature being put into the graveyard from the battlefield. Discarding sends cards directly from your hand to the graveyard, skipping the battlefield entirely. So, your discard pile zombies don't get any dying benefits!
Discarding is just a fancy way of saying 'bye-bye card from hand'. It's not dying. Dying is battlefield exclusive.
