Yes, but only the 2019 adaptation. The original 2001 anime took some liberties and diverged from the manga, especially towards the end.
2019 reboot? Super faithful! 2001 series? Not so much.
As someone who read the manga and watched both versions, I can confirm the 2019 adaptation is true to the source material. The 2001 version, though, not so much.
