Does replacing the Steam Deck SSD void the warranty?
ComposingGuru路7 months agoHonestly, just don't. The risk of messing something up isn't worth the potential warranty headache. Plus, the Steam Deck is pretty solid as is.

Opening up your Steam Deck can be risky. If you really need more storage, consider using a microSD card instead. It's what I did, and it's hassle-free plus no warranty worries.
Definitely tread carefully here! Replacing the SSD on your Steam Deck technically doesn't void the warranty outright according to Valve. However, Valve has been pretty clear that any damage caused during the process of swapping out the SSD (or as a result of installing a non-official component) won't be covered. So, if you know what you're doing and proceed without damaging anything, you should be okay. But remember, you're on your own if something goes wrong during the operation.
From personal experience - swapped the SSD on my Steam Deck, and had no issues with warranty when I had to send it in for a different issue. Just make sure not to damage anything and you should be fine.
