Yep, the Xbox Series S can download games and updates even when it's off, but you need to have the console in Instant-On mode. Just go to Settings > General > Power mode & startup, and make sure it's set to Instant-On!

Only if you have Instant-On mode enabled. Otherwise, it won't. Simple as that.

Yes, as long as you have your Xbox Series S in Instant-On mode, it will continue downloading while off. Saves a lot of time!

From my experience, as long as you have Instant-On mode enabled, you can come back to fully downloaded games! Super convenient when you want to dive right in.
