Actually, trample totally works over protection because MTG rules say you just need to assign enough damage to the protector as if it would deal damage, then the rest can pound the player. Easy peasy.

Yep, trample damage does indeed go over protection in MTG. Here's the rule in a nutshell: if a creature with trample attacks and is blocked by a creature with protection (from whatever the attacking creature is), you only have to assign what would be lethal damage to the blocker (considering the protection), and the rest spills over to the player or planeswalker being attacked. So, if your trampling creature is a behemoth and the blocker is just a little critter with protection from green, you can still stomp over it to hit your opponent!

Protection stops direct damage and effects, but trample is like water flowing around a rock - it goes right past if there鈥檚 enough force (damage) to carry it over!

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
