I tried this myself, and the Xbox 360 Kinect won’t directly connect to the Xbox One. An adapter is required and they're rare these days! Good luck finding one!

Nope, the Xbox 360 Kinect isn't compatible with the Xbox One out of the box. You'll need an adapter for it to work with the original Xbox One model.
