No, the Xbox Series X controller doesn't charge batteries itself. You need a separate rechargeable battery kit or use standard AA batteries.

You gotta buy a Play & Charge Kit if you want to make your life easy. Standard AA batteries work too, but you'll be swapping them out a lot.
