I did this last week! Go to your profile, click on 'Friends', then the pencil icon in the top-right corner. Select 'Edit Privacy' and under 'Who can see your friends list?', choose 'Only Me' or whatever privacy setting you prefer!
Ugh, soooo many steps. Just set it to 'Only Me' under the privacy of friends list. Done.
Hop on your profile, go to 'Friends', hit that pencil icon thingy, and set it to whatever privacy you want. Took me like 2 mins.
