The Trunks saga ends with Future Trunks defeating Zamasu with the Sword of Hope, but Zamasu's immortality causes him to merge with the universe. Goku calls Zeno to erase Zamasu, effectively destroying the entire future timeline. Future Trunks and Mai then travel to a new timeline where another version of them exists.

Goku used the Zeno Button and Zeno erased the entire timeline to get rid of Zamasu. Then, Future Trunks and Mai found a new timeline to live in.

In the end, it was all about Goku's button. Zeno erased everything, including Zamasu. Trunks and Mai then found a new timeline to inhabit.

Zeno came in, pressed the 'delete' button on the universe, and boom! Zamasu? Gone. Future Trunks? Off to a new timeline!
