You can also connect it wirelessly by going to the 'Settings' menu, selecting 'Accessories', then 'Bluetooth Accessories', and put your PS4 controller in pairing mode by holding the PS button and the 'Share' button until the light bar starts flashing. Select the controller from the list and you're good to go!

Just plug it in or use Bluetooth. PS4 controllers work fine on a PS5 for most games!

I've used my PS4 controller on my PS5 plenty of times. Just a simple USB connection or Bluetooth pairing does the trick every time.
