Honestly, it's all about drag n' drop... Oh wait, that's for mobile. For PS4, hit X when you've selected the weapon. Done.
A lot of folks overcomplicate it. Select your Dweller, hit their inventory, find the weapon and press X. If you're scrolling for ages, maybe it's time to do a bit of weapon cleanup, eh?
