Unfortunately, Facebook doesn't allow you to hide mutual friends, but you can still hide your friend list! In your privacy settings, choose 'Only Me' for who can see your friends list.
Mutual Friends can't be hidden. Just doesn't work that way.
You can't hide mutual friends on Facebook, but you can change your overall friend list privacy settings. Go to Settings > Privacy > Who can see your friends list? Set it to 'Only Me' to keep your friends list hidden from everyone else.
