Figuring out what edition your MTG cards are from can feel like you're decoding ancient ruins, but fear not! Look at the bottom of your card. You'll see a little symbol there - that's the set symbol, which tells you which set the card belongs to. No symbol? You've got yourself a card from the Alpha or Beta sets, the very first ones! Also, the color of the set symbol can tell you the rarity of the card - black for common, silver for uncommon, gold for rare, and shiny green or orange for mythic rare. Another tip is checking the copyright date near the very bottom. It won't give you the exact edition but tells you the year of the set.

Just use the internet, my friend. There are sites where you can type in the card's name and it'll show you every version of that card from every set. It's way easier than trying to memorize symbols or colors!

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
