To make a fishing rod in Terraria, you gotta start by collecting some basic materials. First up, grab yourself 8 pieces of wood – any kind will do. Then, stand by a Work Bench and open your crafting menu. You should see the option to craft a Wooden Fishing Rod. Boom, you're all set! Get out there and start fishing. Remember, better rods can be crafted or found later in the game for even bigger catches!

Honestly, while the Wooden Fishing Rod is a good start, aim for the Reinforced Fishing Rod as soon as you can. It needs 8 iron bars or lead bars instead. A bit of mining, but worth the effort for those sweet, sweet catches.

Just get 8 wood and craft it at a Work Bench. Simple as that.
