Trust me, I did this. Unfollowing pages and leaving groups that spam ads really helps reduce the clutter.
You can't completely get rid of Facebook ads, but you can hide individual ads and report them as irrelevant. Happy hunting!
You can tweak your ad preferences. Go to Settings & Privacy > Settings > Ads. Adjust your interests and ad settings there.
