To unlock Level 1 locks in Hogwarts Legacy, you'll need to learn the Alohomora spell. You get it through progressing in the main story. Pretty early on, you’re tasked with a quest called 'The Caretaker's Lunar Lament,' where you help the caretaker with a bit of a ghost problem. Complete this quest, and boom - Alohomora's yours to unlock all those pesky Level 1 locks!

Just get the Alohomora spell, lol. It's part of the story, can't miss it.

Remember, once you have Alohomora, you can start picking those Level 1 locks, but for higher-level locks, you'll need to upgrade the spell. So keep an eye out for those quest upgrades. I stumbled into a higher-level locked door thinking I was all set with my basic Alohomora. Big surprise, it didn't budge. Just a heads-up!
