Time capsules in Subnautica are items you create and leave for other players to find. When launching the rocket to leave the planet, players can pack a small message, an image, and pick six items to include in the capsule. These capsules may then appear in other players' worlds, adding a bit of surprise and community connection to the game.

I once found a time capsule with pretty rare items inside鈥攎ade my day! It's like a gift from another player, just for you.

Time capsules are the ultimate show-and-tell for Subnauts: pack 'em with your fav loot and banter, then send 'em to the stars鈥攐r someone else's game.

They're basically loot boxes gifted by other players. Open them and enjoy the goodies!
