How Do You Activate Channeling in Warframe?
You actually can't activate channeling anymore because it was removed in the update that introduced the new melee system. Focus on the new Heavy Attack instead!

Just press the channeling key (default is 'E') when aiming with a melee weapon. Channel that energy like a true Tenno!
As someone who's played Warframe for years, I can tell you channeling was awesome, but now you'll need to look into Heavy Attacks or other mechanics to boost your melee. Adapt and conquer!
Channeling is done by holding the left mouse button (by default) while you have your melee weapon out. It's a great way to boost your melee damage!
