Go to Settings > Account Management > Account Information > Profile > Online ID. Then follow the instructions to change your username. Easy peasy!

From my experience, changing your username on PS4 is straightforward. Just navigate to Settings, Account Management, then Account Information. Select Profile and then Online ID to get started.
