First, deactivate your Facebook account; Messenger can't be deactivated separately. Then, open Messenger, tap your profile pic, scroll to 'Legal & Policies,' and select 'Deactivate Messenger.' Easy peasy!

users who need to deactivate only Messenger, sorry, you have to deactivate Facebook first. There's no solo Messenger shutdown.
