Deleting the app is not the same as deactivating Messenger. If you want to deactivate, you need to deactivate your Facebook account. Only then will Messenger be deactivated.
Deleting Messenger from your phone doesn鈥檛 delete your messages. They鈥檒l still be there if you reinstall the app later.
Just delete the app, problem solved!
