How Do You Delete Yourself from Facebook?
Just deactivate it. Same menu: Settings & Privacy > Your Facebook Information > Deactivation and Deletion. Deactivate instead of delete if you want to come back.

I've actually done this. Go to Settings, find 'Your Facebook Information', then 'Deactivation and Deletion'. Follow the prompts to delete the account.
