Buy it in the home section and stop pretending you didn't see it there all along ;)
You need to reach level 8 and build the Children’s Store. Once it's built, you can buy a cot from the store.
I had to wait until I completed the “Two and a Half Sims” quest to unlock the Infant section in the Home Store. Then, I could purchase a cot.
