You can restore deleted messages by reinstalling WhatsApp and selecting the restore option from your Google Drive or iCloud backup.
One time I lost all my messages, but thanks to my daily iCloud backups, I got 'em all back by reinstalling the app and hitting 'Restore'.
No backup? No luck! Consider setting up regular backups to avoid this issue in the future.
