Participate in raids and catch legendary Pokemon. They usually give you guaranteed XL Candy.
You can get XL Candy by catching Pokemon (especially evolved forms), hatching eggs, transferring Pokemon, and walking with your buddy. You can also convert 100 normal candies into one XL Candy!
