Shadowless Pokemon cards are a special breed from the first print run of the Pokemon Trading Card Game. The easiest way to spot 'em is to look for the absence of a shadow on the right side of the illustration box - where it usually drops a bit of shade on the regular cards. Also, peep the bottom of the card; shadowless ones have thinner font for the '1999-2000' copyright date. It's all in the details, folks!

I've got a bunch of shadowless cards from when I was a kid, and the easiest tell is definitely the border around the picture. If there's no shadow, you've got something special. Plus, the printing feels a bit different, less glossy almost. Just my two cents from handling these relics!
