You can tell if your PS3 is backwards compatible by checking the model number. The original 20GB and 60GB models (CECHCxx and CECHAxx) and the 80GB models (CECHExx) with four USB ports are the ones you’re looking for. If your PS3 has two USB ports, it’s not compatible.

Look at the number of USB ports. If your PS3 has four USB ports, it’s likely backwards compatible. If it has two, it’s not.

Backwards compatibility? Only the early 'fatties' (20GB, 60GB, and certain 80GB) models. Slim and Super Slim models? No dice.

Trust me, I spent hours figuring this out. If your PS3 has four USB ports and a glossy finish, you’re in business!

If you're a PlayStation player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official PlayStation gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
