How do you know if Pokemon cards are first edition?
First edition Pokemon cards have a tiny 'Edition 1' symbol on them, usually located at the bottom left corner of the artwork. This symbol looks like a number '1' inside a circle. If you see this, you've got yourself a first edition! Also, checking the card's condition and knowing the set it belongs to can help since first editions were only from earlier sets.

Just flip that card and look for the 'Edition 1' symbol. No symbol, no first edition bragging rights.
Honestly, too much hype over first editions. Yeah, they're cool and rare, but there are tons of newer cards that are just as awesome. Focus on the fun of collecting and playing, not just the first edition status.
